Help / Calls / Test your divert and read the result

Who this is for

You've set your divert and want to be sure it's actually on. Test divert proves the whole path in a single call — and the result tells you exactly what, if anything, to fix.

Time: 2 minutes. You'll need: to be the owner, with your business number saved.

Before you start

Why a test at all: the divert lives on your phone network, not in the app, so the app can't see it directly. A test call is the only way to know it's really on.

Steps

1. Press Test divert

On Settings → Scarlett number, press Test divert. It rings your business number from the Scarlett line. If your divert is live, the call loops straight back to Scarlett and never reaches your handset — which proves routing and that your network passes your number through, in one go.

2. Read the result

Within a few seconds you'll get one of five results:

ResultWhat it meansWhat to do
Divert workingCalls reach Scarlett and she can see which number they came in onNothing — you're done
Calls arrive, but anonymouslyYour divert works, but your network strips which number the call was forGet your own Scarlett line

What you're aiming for: Divert working.

Verify it worked

The status reads Divert working. That's the only state that means calls are reaching Scarlett with everything she needs.

Troubleshooting

The Test divert button is greyed out. Save your business number first, under Your business number on the same page — that's the line the test rings.

"Your phone rang instead", but I set the divert. If you set the divert to When busy or When unanswered, that's expected — this test only proves an always-on divert. Otherwise, re-dial the code and check you copied the Scarlett line exactly.

It keeps saying "Calls arrive, but anonymously". Your carrier strips the diverting number and won't stop. The fix is a line of your own — see the next guide.
